The AIMS program is an undergraduate exchange
program between Korea and ASEAN universities
to foster experts in the ASEAN region.

Program Overview

Nurture Korea-ASEAN regional specialists

Subjects of exchange 57 AIMS member universities in ASEAN countries (total of 7 countries)

Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore

Member Universities in Korea 12 member universities (please refer to the ‘Member Universities’ tab)
Details of exchange

Focus on multiparty exchange through participation of more than 3 ASEAN countries

  • Dispatch: Attend regular academic courses, learn local language and understand local life, participate in volunteer activities, etc.
  • Invitation: Attend regular and special academic courses, learn Korean language and support for diversified experiential activities, etc
Disciplines Hospitality & Tourism, Agriculture, Language & Culture, International Business, Food Science & Technology, Engineering, Economics, Environmental Management & Science, Biodiversity, and Marine Science (8 disciplines)
Exchange period 1 semester in principle (support up to 2 semesters at the maximum)
No. of exchange students 10 dispatched students and 10 invited students by member university
(maintain equity in exchange students for each country)
Support period / scale

1st AIMS period

  • Support period: July 2016 ~ February 2021 (5 years)
  • Support scale: Having begun with 4 member universities in 2016, expanded 10 member universities

2nd AIMS period

  • Support period: March 2021 ~ February 2026 (5 years)

    Decide whether to continue support depending on program outcomes

  • Support scale: Expanded from 10 member universities in the 1st period to 12 member universities in the 2nd period

    Selected additional member universities in accordance with the trend of increase in the No. countries, academic fields, and students of participating in the AIMS Program

Supports provided

Scholarship for dispatched students

Subsidize costs of program development and operation

  • Develop curriculum, language education, on-site experiences, employ experts, exchange teaching staffs, develop a joint program, etc.
